RECIPES

Cooking feeds your body, mind, and soul. It allows you to control the food you put into your body, connect with your family and friends over a home cooked meal, and save the money you might otherwise spend in restaurants or on processed, prepackaged foods. Believe it or not, making simple and satisfying meals from scratch doesn’t have to be hard. Here are some of my favorite easy, healthy recipes. You’ll find that eating well can also be delicious!

Whether you are following the Paleo Autoimmune Protocol, have celiac disease, or just want something healtheir than the standard North American diet, you've come to the right place.  I love to cook, and I love coming up with my own recipes.

Breakfast Recipes - it really is the most important meal of the day

Breakfast can set the tone for your entire day, so make it count!  A bowlful of breakfast cereal may seem like a good idea, but check out the ingredients and the sugar content!  This will have you crashing before 10am and grabbing for a "keep me goin' til lunchtime" snack, which will have you crashing again, starting a vicious cycle until well past dinner!

Start your day with a healthy serving of protein, fats and vegetables.  My favourite is eggs fried in bacon fat with a pile of veggies.

Lunch Recipes - pack it right!

Brown bag lunch doesn't have to be a boring old sandwich, though that will save you money over going to a restaurant or fast food joint, it doesn't necessarily mean it's any healthier.

Keep your day going with some high energy whole foods, like my favourite "Big Ass Salad", or pack up some leftovers from last night's dinner.  Always make extras!  Cook once, eat twice.  Or thrice even!

Dinner Recipes - or is it supper?

No matter what you call it, dinner should be a family affair, with the TV turned off and everyone sitting 'round the table to talk!  Rushing your evening meal, or sitting in front of the TV or computer, disrupts your digestive process.  This can cause GERD, bloating, gas and other upset.

Studies have shown that families who turn off electronics and sit down to dinner together can reduce the risk of childhood obesity, and teens who eat with their families get higher marks in school.

You won't find a sandwich in my lunch bag!

Make enough for everyone!

Desserts & Snacks Recipes - don't deprive yourself!

Yes, a healthy diet can include desserts and snacks!  There are so many options to make your own healthy celebratory desserts, and on the go snacks, there's really no need to buy any from the convenience store or even the local baker.

You will find just about everything here that you'll need to satisfy your sweet tooth, or your desire for crunch.

mmmm....yum!

Beverage Recipes - have a drink on me

Hydration is also an important part of a healthful diet and exercise plan, but you dont' always have to drink plain water.
